IDX and VOW Data Access: GVR, FVREB, and CADREB Reciprocal Agreement

Overview

This article explains the data sharing agreements between British Columbia real estate boards and how they affect IDX and VOW access for REALTOR® members.

Data Sharing Agreement

Participating Boards:

  • Greater Vancouver REALTORS® (GVR)
  • Fraser Valley Real Estate Board (FVREB)
  • Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board (CADREB)

These three boards maintain a reciprocal data agreement with shared policies for both IDX and VOW services.

What This Means for Members

If You're a Member of GVR, FVREB, or CADREB

You will receive listing data from all three boards:

  • Greater Vancouver REALTORS®
  • Fraser Valley Real Estate Board
  • Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board

This applies to both:

  • IDX (Internet Data Exchange) - Active listings for public advertising
  • VOW (Virtual Office Website) - Client-facing websites with comprehensive listing data including sold listings

Data Coverage Limitations

BC Northern Real Estate Board (BCNREB) data is NOT included

Why BCNREB data is unavailable:

  • BCNREB does not currently have an IDX policy
  • No reciprocal data agreement exists between BCNREB and the other three boards
  • BCNREB VOW data is restricted to BCNREB members only

Key Terms

IDX (Internet Data Exchange):

  • Active listings only
  • For public advertising purposes
  • Available on public-facing websites

VOW (Virtual Office Website):

  • More comprehensive listing data
  • Includes sold listings
  • Client-facing websites with restricted access
  • Requires user registration/authentication
